Clinical Observation Module #002: The Case of the 2AM Awakening
This time, you're not reading the file. You're in the room when she finds out why his wife can't sleep.
A Westwood Wellness Interactive Assessment
Module #001 introduced you to Westwood’s internship program. You reviewed a case file. You read Dr. Hailey’s notes. You learned what she found when she examined Patient J — his measurements, his inadequacy, his wife’s quiet confession about stretch.
Twenty-nine of you completed that assessment. Your responses were recorded. Your patterns noted.
Now Dr. Hailey has a new case. And this time, you won’t be reading about it afterward.
You’ll be in the room.
The Referral
Mrs. K, 34, presents with chronic insomnia. Forty-five minutes to fall asleep. Six awakenings per night. A persistent pattern of waking at 2-3AM with racing heart and elevated cortisol.
Her family physician tried everything — sleep medication, meditation, cognitive behavioral therapy. Nothing worked.
She’s been referred to Westwood Wellness as a last resort. Her husband has been asked to accompany her.
Dr. Hailey suspects the sleep disorder isn’t a sleep disorder at all.
Your Role
You’ll observe the full session. The intake questions. The separate examinations. The measurements — hers and his. The moment when two sets of numbers are compared and a diagnosis becomes unavoidable.
Dr. Hailey will ask for your responses throughout. Not what you think you should feel. What you actually feel.
The couple has consented to your presence. They know you’re watching.
So does Dr. Hailey.
What’s Different This Time
Module #001 was a case file review — clinical, retrospective, safe.
Module #002 is live observation. Present tense. You’ll watch Mrs. K undress. You’ll watch the dilators arranged on the tray. You’ll watch her body respond to sizes her husband cannot provide — and you’ll watch her realize what that means.
Then you’ll watch him enter the room. See the dilators still glistening on the counter. Hear Dr. Hailey ask him to lower his pants.
You’ll be there when she measures him. You’ll be there when she announces the numbers. You’ll be there when his body responds to the verdict in a way that confirms everything.
Some of you asked for this. In Module #001, when asked what you wished had happened, the most common answer was: I wished Dr. Hailey had measured him herself.
She will.
A Note on Clinical Files
I’m still learning how to use typeform. I am trying to find new and interactive ways to engage with all of you so I appreciate your patience as I continue to learn.
Paid subscribers have asked if it would be possible to have their responses recorded to their file here at Westwood. I’m going to try. But I caution I have no idea if this will work. LOL. Again, your patience and support is so very much appreciated.
So, if you are a paid subscriber and wish to have your responses recorded to your personal Westwood clinical file, at the end of the examination you may enter your email. There is absolutely no obligation do to so.
But my hope is that doing so will share your results with me. Without an email address all results are confidential and anonymous. If this doesn’t work, I will make adjustments.
If it does, wonderful. Over time, as you complete additional assessments, your file will build a comprehensive profile of your arousal patterns, recognition responses, and progression through training.
Free subscribers may complete the module but clinical file registration is reserved for those enrolled in Standard Care or Intensive Personal Care.
If you’re not yet a paid subscriber and today’s session surfaces something worth exploring further, you know where to find us.
Dr. Hailey will see you now.

Wow, so much detail! I really, really liked this approach and hope you will continue this specific type of content and your writing in general. Always happy when I see taht you post something new!
